MARK LANG Trained in England, Mark Lang emigrated
to Australia in 1969
and worked in Sydney as an advertising photographer for 15 years,
specialising in still life.
| On weekends he would escape the pressures of the city to seek the
solace
of the Australian bush, eventually choosing to pursue landscape photography
wholeheartedly, leaving the commercial advertising world behind.
"Using panoramic cameras enables me to capture some of the sense of
space that you encounter in the bush and some of the sense of wonder
that you feel standing there, insignificant and small.
It's still a thrill to leap in the truck and follow instinct and intuition
to see
where the road will take you.
Sometimes I feel I'm just a channel for the landscape
to speak for itself,
and I know I'll be doing this until the day I drop."
