Media Release For immediate release 'POEMOGRAPHY' After the success of first time anywhere exhibitions such as 'Ph-art,' 'Ph-male,' and 'Phainting,' it has only been a matter of time that the expressive mediums of photography and poetry would meld together to create another unique show called 'Poemography.' Coinciding with the Byron Writers' Festival, the Creative Photography Centre and the Northern Rivers Writers' Centre randomly paired 30 photographers to visually interpret the work of 30 poets. The poets submitted their work in envelopes, and the shooters selected the poems by title that best appealed to their visual creativity, and where told 'there are no rules,' in creating their own version of the poetic word. The dynamic duos will be hung under the common title of the poem, and unveiled on opening night where the shooters and poets will meet for the first time. "This is a very experimental exhibition," says John de Lombardo, co-founder of CPC, inventor of 'Poemography,' and other inaugural shows. "With so much artistic talent abound, the results will be both extraordinary, abstract and sensual. Its going to be a lot of fun, and interesting to see how the photographers interpret the poems they are photographing." The night will also include recitals by local participating poetry group 'Dangerously Poetic.' The artists featured in "Poemography" include Cal McKinnon, Frank Petsch, Nharyan Feldman, David Young, Allira Cornell, Laura Jan Shore, Steve Devas, Narelle Sebastian, Catherine Perversi, and Neera Scott. Opening night Sat 26th July - 7pm at the Creative Photography Centre, 46 Acacia St, in Byron's Arts and Industry Estate. The exhibition will run until end of August. Ends. Images from the exhibition are available for publication. For further information or images, please contact John de Lombardo at the Creative Photography Centre on (02) 6685 5859 |
